HABBO: Origins was released in mid-June as a side project to Habbo Hotel. The intention was to recreate Habbo Hotel as it existed in 2005 when the game first released. This takes away a lot of features that Habbo.com has gained over the years - a massive catalogue and archive of 20 years of furniture and exclusive releases, "coin furni" (which set an economical standard within the game, allowing you to purchase coins and trade with other users for items in the game), as well as the physical spaces in the hotel being different. ORIGINS is stripped down to its original form - a small catalogue of furnishings, simplified controls and a smaller screen size, PLUS no mobile version - this is a desktop only game right now.
this was seen as a cash grab to many, and it probably was (absolutely is). I downloaded it out of curiosity around 1-2 months after release and ive been hooked. the community is MUCH smaller (i havent seen more than 500ppl online at once), so you bump into the same people often. The people you bump into are usually veterans of the original Habbo.com, so theyre between like 25-35yrs old - most of the time it feels like youre playing with adults, and the culture of the game is preserved by people who play the game becase of the nostalgia factor.
Chatting with players and playing games is the foundation of Habbo, the real fun is in the furni. Habbo has created a network rooted in the buying and trading of furniture with other players. Rare furniture and limited editions are put up for purchase on Tuesdays and Fridays, and there are independent sites that track the value of these limited edition pieces as time passes, so you can use them to decorate your rooms or you can trade with other people to get the pieces you're looking for. The users are putting in work to keep the community alive. People stream the game on Twitch, do giveaways on Discord and Twitter, and host games for people to play (Ive created a game room to host virtual bingo).
I have been on Habbo: Origins for around 4 months. This is my setup so far (yes i spent money mind your business although i will say that it is waaaay more expensive than Habbo .com)
